It's Time To Think Simple

by SimpleLaw on

We are getting pretty excited about ABA TECHSHOW 2023. And yes, we will be there, along with our magician. If you haven't seen Danny Orleans in action, well, make it a point to stop by our booth, #329 or at our Industry Solution Session on March 2, 2023, from 1:15pm to 2:00pm, on the showroom floor. Danny will be there doing some up-close magic, too.

As we prepare for the show, and what we want attendees to know about us, we summarize it as Think Simple. It's a focus on leveraging the power of technology to simplify the administrative side of managing a law firm. We tell our users: You practice law. We've got the tech.

Define Simple

At the base level, most firms have already taken the first step to simple. Law firms are already in the cloud. Whether using online storage platforms like OneDrive, Google Drive, or the like, or using app based functional solutions like Outlook or Gmail, firms are used to accessing information from anywhere. Although this data may be on the cloud, the solutions don't always talk to each other. Your time tracking, saved on some sort of spreadsheet saved in the cloud, doesn't connect with your word format to create invoices. That's the first step to Simple. That's where case management software comes in.

With a case management software platform, you enable all the data to be stored together, putting it to work for you. Entering hours in an excel sheet? Enter it to your case management software. Ready for invoicing? Easy. The data is already stored there, so it is simple and quick to create the invoice. No need to move data from one source to another. You get the idea. You are already in the cloud, why not store the data together and put it all to work?

Define Putting Data to Work

If you are using a cloud based software platform, like SimpleLaw, rather than entering data on various disparate point solutions, it's all saved in one place. That means the technology enables the data to work, like autocompleting a document that you can then review. No need to re-enter data into the form. Of course, the entire billing process is simple, including the option to give clients online payment choices. And of course, a robust reporting tool to answer any question you may have about your law firm's performance.

Speaking of clients, how about that client portal? The clients have the information you need to complete a form or document. Perhaps it is a federal immigration form. Let the clients enter their data to the portal. Then put that data to work to automatically fill out the document. Then you can review and adjust, if needed. Same for any standard forms used by the firm or for legal matters, say a will creation. Let the clients enter the data themselves. Create the document. You review it. Your focus is on the law, not on the data.

Tell Me About Data Security

From time to time, we hear concerns about putting the law firm data on a shared resource. If anything should happen to that software, everyone is at risk. This is where SimpleLaw is really differentiated. With SimpleLaw, each law firm has their own account - including their own web address. It isn't every user logging in to a central web address, say app.solution.com. Each subscribing law firm has their own web address, unique to their firm. This reduces the data security risk because there is no shared access.

We describe it as the difference between living in an apartment and a single family home. For most case management software platforms, everyone logs in to the same web address. It's like living in an apartment - one building, but each person has their own space, lock, and key. If a fire breaks out in the building, chances are every apartment will be affected, either with fire, smoke, or water damage. With SimpleLaw, each law firm has their own unique web address. It's a single family home. No shared web address. You only have to worry about what happens in your house. No additional risk from fires breaking out in the neighbor's apartment. Not to mention all the customization that is possible because of this unique feature.

Benefits of Customization

Each law firm does things their own way or has unique ways of referencing various aspects of running the firm. Is the status of a matter as simple as Open or Closed? Or maybe you use a variety of status names, or even a color system like red, yellow, or green? No problem. Because each law firm has a unique web address, that means there are even more options to customize. It's a long list but suffice it to say, it's simple to learn and use the software because it adapts to the way you do things already.

Whether it's customized automated emails, custom intake forms, sending the law firm agreement through the platform, giving co-counsel access, or even custom reports using custom fields, we can do that. All at no additional cost.

What About Pricing?

We keep it simple and reasonable here too. One price for each user for all of our features. Integrate email with Outlook or Google? No problem. Want the CRM? It's already included. We offer a monthly rate of $49/user or an annual rate of $39/user/mo. We are partners with several Bar Associations which gives users an additional discount. Oh, and we give each subscribing law firm one free paralegal or legal secretary account, too.

The only additional costs are a choice by each subscribing firm if they use DocuSign, QuickBooks, or LawPay. If users choose to use their own external cloud storage, like Google Drive, One Drive, or DropBox, if additional costs are required due to the file storage size, well, that's up to the firm too. But that's it. All the software we built is included in the rate.

And right now, we are offering 3-months free use of the software for subscribing law firms. We offer what we call 'white glove service', too. We will set up all your intake forms, workflows, document automation, etc. You give it to us and we set it all up. No downtime from anyone in the firm to get it set up. Of course, if you prefer to do it yourself, we are here to guide you every step of the way.
