Simple and Nice

by SimpleLaw on

Simple. It can have different meanings to different people. To some, it's about being very, well, basic. To others, simple can mean easy, modest, or humble. Not all of those would apply to SimpleLaw! But, the one that really does describe how we regard Simple is 'readily understood or performed'. And frankly, it should apply to every piece of technology you choose. And beyond. But, for our purposes, we will focus on tech. So, what makes a tech offering 'simple'?

Simple should make the task easier

Ultimately, tech should make the job at hand easier. Because, well, it isn't about the tech. It's about making the user more efficient, organized, and confident. No, we aren't saying technology gives people confidence. But, we are saying the right tech should put the person at ease about their focus. And, it should make answers to questions easy to find. At least as easy as possible.

Simple includes intuitive

Your choice of technology should be primarily intuitive to use. I'm a big fan of Apple products. The user interface on the phone, watch, tablet, etc., are all pretty darn simple to use. And you can easily find what you are looking for. From the moment you turn on your Apple product, you are easily guided through the setup process. And, once you start using it, more and more benefits are uncovered. So, whether it's an e-discovery service, case and practice management software, or document management tools, look for a platform that makes sense to you, right from the start.

Simple includes continuous improvement

One great thing about tech is that it's capabilities never stop expanding. Over the course of a year, it's shocking how much tech can transform. For instance, look at the mortgage industry. For those of us who remember, applying for a mortgage was a very heavy process of paperwork. Like, real original paperwork. From bank statements to tax returns and the like, it was all paper. Now, people can apply for a mortgage on their phone. Sure, it still takes documentation, but most of that is online anyway. Uploading documents is a lot easier than copying and mailing and hoping it arrives in time. From turning the lights on or off in our houses from across the country or watching activity in front of your home from your phone, it seems to just keep advancing. So, look for software that continues to improve. Software that leverages the power of modern technology to make it even more simple to get the job done.

Simple includes responsive people

Obviously, we love tech. But, we love people more. Tech should make the task at hand simple. It should not replace good old-fashioned human interaction. Unless, of course, that's what you want! So, if you want to pick up the phone and talk to a live person, it should be available. If you prefer to chat, well, that's cool too and should be supported. The real point here? However you choose to connect, it should be a live person as much as possible.

So, whether it's legal tech, managing the family calendar, or checking the latest activity on Facebook, tech should make the task Simple. See how we make case and practice management simple.
